Evanston Illinois is a beautiful city with a marvelous Lake Michigan shoreline and miles of dedicated bicycle paths and lanes. Evanston has a cozy downtown with shops, an incredible variety of food and drink, and two train systems that connect to Chicago and beyond. Like the surrounding metropolitan area, Evanston has congested traffic, uneven pavement, no hills, expensive car parking and four seasons.

All of this adds up to a strong but specific need for a particular kind of bike. Our mission is to help you create the bike that is both well suited to the conditions in our area and perfect for the kind of riding that you like to do. Our specialty is the commuting or errand bike which is less about speed and hopping rocks and more about comfort, reliability, safety, security and practicality.

I have been commuting to work and using my bike in place of a car for many years. I built bikes for this specific purpose and have come to appreciate a variety of features that work and several that do not.

Evanston Bicycle is about sharing this experience and expressing a passion through the bikes that we make.
